COACHING EPISODE: Tamara Chats Taking a Break

Taking a step back…

is not the same as giving up altogether.

I’ve said a million times that our side hustles should be additive. They should be something we choose to do in addition to all the other obligations we have in our lives because they serve us well.

Maybe for you that’s in the form of extra money, or extra joy, or in the ability to use your skills in new, creative ways.

When our side hustles serve us in these ways, they can feel like a really great part of our lives. A natural extension of our careers and something that brings us closer to our values-based dreams.

However, there are certainly times where our side hustles feel like they’re dragging us down rather than lifting us up.

Today, with the state of the world it can be hard to think of spreading ourselves any thinner than we already are. There’s nothing we’d rather do less than occupy any more of our brain space with additional to-do’s or expend any more precious energy on carrying them out.

But what does it mean for those well-intentioned goals or long sought after dreams if we stop building our side businesses?

This week. I’m coaching UK-based psychotherapist Tamara Howell through the idea of taking a pause from her side hustle. Sometimes stepping back does not mean that you're giving up, it does not mean that you're saying your side hustle is never going to work. Instead it’s about harnessing the power of reflection and slowing down in order to speed up.
