Uncertain times…
can make us act in uncertain ways.
Those who used to dive head first into tasks may now be finding themselves paralyzed with indecision.
In stark contrast, those that never had time to start their side hustles may have made more progress in the last two weeks than they had all year.
Your reaction to the current COVID-19 climate is your own and that is perfectly ok. You are where you are and that’s right where you need to be.
But , one thing I’m seeing that concerns me is a tendency to react to the moment rather than pause to respond. People are scared. And that’s either sending them into a sort of hyper-activity mode or making them shut down altogether. And I believe these spur of the moment decisions will take us further off course than if we just waited a beat.
Whatever your choices in the moment, let them be an authentic response rather than a fear-based reaction.
Your goals are still possible, even though things look a little different right now.
This week, I’m sharing my current emotional reactions to staying home, talking about the two things that do need to adapt with your side hustle, and the fact that pausing doesn’t have to be passive.

is full of turbulence.
There are ups, there are downs. There are wins, and there are gutting losses.
A lot of the time, this turbulence comes from outside factors.
A surprise meeting at the kiddo’s school, a flat tire, a refund request, tech issues. All of these external stressors can make you question whether adding on another income stream was the right decision.
But what happens when you’re the cause of your own chaos?
Everyone gets caught up in distractions and imposter syndrome. These are natural emotional responses to stepping out of your comfort zone. But pushing off your side hustle - consciously or subconsciously - often comes from somewhere deeper.
Tune in this week to explore some signs that your lack of progress isn’t because of outside factors but due to self-sabotage.

that ads are the answer to everything.Want to grow your audience? Run a Facebook Ad. Want to launch an offer? Run lots of Facebook ads. While it’s true that ads can absolutely ramp up all of your marketing efforts. They really aren’t a shortcut for getting your online income stream up and running.
In fact, if you run Facebook ads before you’re ready, you could just end up making an expensive mistake.

that life is just easier when we love our jobs.We spend so much of our waking hours working, and when we’re adding on a side hustle we spend even more. It would feel like a huge waste if all of the time, energy, and effort it takes to be an entrepreneur wasn’t enjoyable. But reality is, there are days when work just feels like work.Having passion for your online income stream can definitely help get you through the dull days and even the dark days. But passion isn’t the only thing that makes a business successful. Sometimes, it’s about showing up day in and day out and grinding until the results start to come through.
Passion gets us to the starting line, but it doesn’t always get us to the finish line.
That’s where strategy comes in.

quite strange for a lot of therapists.
For so long, we’ve focused on building really strong one-way relationships. We’ve kept ourselves hidden in the background.
And while this is effective and ethical in therapy, when it comes to building an online business, the strongest income streams are the result of your audience knowing YOU. When they get a glimpse into who you are - your strengths and your vulnerabilities - your email subscribers become much more loyal and are much more likely to buy.
Email marketing is about building a two-way relationship.
Disclosing personal stories, showing what’s going on behind your scenes, and updating your wins and losses are all effective and totally ok ways to interact with your audience.

the first thing that happens with your online income stream.Because we talk about it so much, and place such a high level of importance on it, emailing your list feels like the number one thing to do in order to be able to branch out of the therapy room.
And while the point of this series is to highlight this marketing and sales strategy, writing emails is pointless if there is no one on your list.
While sending emails is one of the best ways to promote and sell your online offer, you still have to market your email list.
Cultivating an audience to build relationships with - and provide transformations to - doesn’t just happen on its own. You have to first get your opt-in in front of people so they know your email list even exists.

looking into online income, you’ve heard about having an email list.
For your online business to be a revenue source and not just a hobby, you have to be making sales. And in order to make sales, you need to have a steady stream of potential buyers.
Though there are tons of ways to generate sales leads, there aren’t many marketing strategies that focus on building relationships and providing value.
Email marketing, on the other hand, is the best way to foster a connection with those who are interested in your online products.
Continuous relationship building with an email list helps your audience make purchasing decisions from a place of security rather than scarcity or urgency and it means that those buying from you really trust you.
And words like connection, relationship, and trust help make all of us therapists feel more comfortable with the idea of selling.
